Cheryl Schweitzer

I am a Missouri-born artist and paint out of my home studio in Jefferson City. Anything can be an inspiration for my paintings. Sometimes it's a scene outside a car window or walking down the street; other times I am inspired by people from the past that I consider unsung heroes of life's challenges. I enjoy the responsibility of recording the history of people and places that are constantly changing.

I work in many layers, adding paint until I get the effects of light or color that I desire. Acrylics are my favored medium, but I also paint with watercolors and occasionally oils. I love the texture and colors of acrylic paints, and get a thrill out of brushing fresh, clean color across a blank canvas.
